Stochastic assessment

Stochastic assessment

A stochastic assessment is an indirect assessment that assigns a conditional probability distribution to an uncertain variable represented by a frontier node in a relevance diagram. This probability distribution is conditioned on the outcomes of the frontier node's new direct predecessors. If the corresponding direct predecessor nodes are not already part of the relevance diagram, they are created as part of the stochastic assessment.
