Probability theory

Probability theory

Probability theory is a branch of mathematics concerned with measuring and reasoning about uncertainty. Probability theory was first formalised by Laplace and later axiomatised by Kolmogorov. Probability has been shown to be the only sensible way—one that does not lead to money pump behaviour—to measure uncertainty for decision-making.
