Net Present Value
Net Present Value
The net present value (NPV) is the current value of a set of future outcomes. In finance, a net present value is typically computed on a stream of positive and negative future cash flows by discounting them with corresponding powers of a discount (interest) rate. Using an appropriate (eg, fungible) numeraire, NPV techniques are often used in decision analysis to measure the value of future multi-attribute outcome streams.
