Maximum Expected Utility

Maximum Expected Utility

Maximum expected utility (MEU) is the action axiom embodied by decision theory. As an axiom, MEU states: "IF you have a decision basis (ie, a formal model of your decision) in the language of decision theory (eg, a decision tree or a relevance diagram) that you believe adequately represents your decision, THEN you should act so as to maximise the expected value of your utility function as described in your decision basis."
