Inference

Inference

Inference means deduction, the derivation of new formal statements (theorems) from an initial set of formal statements (axioms). For example, a formal recommendation for action can be deduced from a formal model of a given decision (ie, a decision basis—which, strictly speaking, is an axiomatic statement) and from the axioms of logic, probability theory and decision theory.
