Logitech R800 Presenter

I was presenting a strategy workshop recently in Phuket (!) and had occasion to borrow the Logitech R800 Presenter belonging to my colleague Mark Law of Advanced Management Skills. The device works well enough but I found it frustrating to use.

This device fits nicely in the hand and I particularly like the green laser (in preference to the usual red). But, and it’s a big BUT, the buttons are too close together. It is a serious design flaw.

I found myself pressing the right-arrow key when I wanted to light the laser. I therefore revealed the next slide too early and wrecked the flow of my presentation. And I did this several times. Maybe I’d get used to it, but I don’t want to have to. Any guest presenter will also have the same problem.

I was fortunate to be borrowing a friend’s device. I won’t be buying one for myself.
