The Power of a New Alternative
The Power of a New Alternative
Friday, 14 May 2010
My very first tweet, as I walked home having voted in the European elections, in the midst of the MP expenses scandal in May 2009, read, “Nothing beats the power of a new alternative. Unfortunately today there weren’t any.” A year later and I think we now do have a genuinely new alternative.
How refreshing to see some true leadership qualities being displayed by both the Conservative and Liberal-Democrat parties. David Cameron and Nick Clegg have displayed more authenticity and decisiveness in their first week than Gordon Brown did in the whole of his Premiership.
How depressing to see the Labour party unable to think creatively. Perhaps a period in opposition and a new leader will see them able to add value to the nation again. However, the early recriminations and whingeing do not bode well.
