Over an 18-year career in strategy consulting, I have designed, implemented and run the strategic planning and portfolio management processes in five pharmaceutical companies, and the investment appraisal and risk management processes in two leading financial institutions. This included training the in-house groups to continue with high-quality decision making after the consultant had gone.

I have developed strategies in the face of uncertainty for businesses in the pharmaceuticals, agrochemical, oil & gas, financial services, private equity, engineering, design, infrastructure and automotive industries.

I am an expert modeller of biological, economic and financial systems. I have world-class capabilities in risk assessment and decision analysis. I invented some of the portfolio management methodology now standard across the pharmaceuticals industry.

As well as my paid consulting, I also work unpaid improving decision quality at a number of charities, and I am treasurer of St Thomas with St Stephen, a Church of England parish in south London.

Before setting out as an independent consultant I worked with Strategic Decisions Group and Rosa & Co.

I have an MA in Mathematics from Jesus College, Cambridge, and an MBA from the London Business School. I am also a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered IT Professional.
